Linwoods Recipe Challenge – Adding a healthy boost to baking

Linwoods products are all about ‘adding a healthy boost to almost everything you eat’ and aim to provide all the vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids for a well balanced diet. From flaxseed mixes to sun-dried goji berries, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to ingredients to give us an additional burst of goodness. I was delighted to receive some Linwoods goodies to incorporate into some clean eating recipes for my blog – here’s what I got:

Milled Flaxseed with Bio Cultures and Vitamin D

Adding a strain of bioculture and the ‘sunshine’ vitamin to their milled flaxseed, the result is a delicious blend to help support an active lifestyle, as well as offering a source of iron, fibre and omega 3 fatty acids. Both nutrients working together also helps the body to absorb calcium, which is essential for strong bones and teeth, the live culture also aids the digestive system. Not a bad range of health benefits there!

This tasty mix can be enjoyed at any time of the day; added to cereals, porridge, pancakes or smoothies for breakfast; sprinkled into salads or soups at lunchtime; and added to stir-fries, casseroles, pasta and rice dishes for your evening meal…the opportunities are endless! By not having an overpowering taste, this mix is ideal for adding to any kind of dish, without affecting the flavour which also makes it a great addition to baking.

Milled Flaxseed, Cocoa & Berries Mix

A luxurious blend of flaxseed with the addition of reduced fat cocoa and dried berries, this mix is naturally sweeter than the previous one, making it an ideal partner for yogurt, smoothies, cereal, pancakes or to be used in baking. Packed full of iron, zinc, fibre, magnesium and selenium, this blend can help to protect against excess free radicals that can damage cells and tissues in the body. I found this to be a fantastic ingredient to use in sweeter dishes, adding a rich flavour and texture to give recipes a boost, especially when added to muffins and cakes.

It was great fun experimenting with these Linwoods products, plus I was really impressed with quality and taste of both flaxseed mixes. Flaxseeds haven’t really been something I have considered using in my diet, but I’m so glad I was able to try these as now it’s rare for me not to add them to one of my meals during the day! Versatile, healthy and offering a fantastic nutritional boost, I’d highly recommend choosing Linwoods for a great range of superfoods!
