Thomas Oliver’s Christening

23rd June and 29th October 2017 are special dates in our calendar. Our beautiful little boy arrived 5 weeks early on the summer Friday morning at 5.13am; the other date was the day Thomas Oliver Higgins was christened.

Returning to where James and I got married on 12th September 2015, the absolutely stunning Ripon Cathedral played host to our family and friends witnessing the baptism of our son on a chilly autumnal day. Harping back to our wedding day, Dean John led the service, the next milestone in our lives as the Higgins family. Tom hadn’t had a nap in the morning so was rather grouchy during the service – until he finally gave in and slept once he’d had a cry after being blessed with water on his forehead – rocking the christening dress and dummy combo!

We carried on the celebrations across the road at the quirky, beautifully historic Thorpe Prebend, a Grade II medieval townhouse overlooking the River Skell. Along with a glass of Prosecco and good food, it was so nice to catch up with everyone while Tom enjoyed being passed around and cuddled – his dream afternoon! The weather allowed us to enjoy the gorgeous outdoor space and enjoy some fresh air too.

I cannot thank my parents enough for arranging everything – the location, food, decorations and making it such a special day, and I’d also like to thank my friends Ruth and Daryl for photographing the day and capturing every moment – the video they made absolutely blew me away and will be something we’ll look back on and watch in years to come. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for good photographers/videographers with a fantastic eye for detail 🙂
