A breakfast that tastes like dessert – yes please! Especially when it’s on the vibe of apple crumble and custard – using oats, cinnamon, apples and the best kind of dairy-free custard alternative from Nature’s Charm. This recipe can be made ahead (even make a bigger batch for the whole week!), you could add extras like berries, pears, raisins… Whatever you fancy! [Paid ad in collaboration with Nature’s Charm.]
Ingredients:
For the oats –
- 100g oats
- 2 tablespoons sweetener
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons flaxseed or chia seeds
- 300ml oat milk
- 1 x can Nature’s Charm coconut custard (chilled or room temperature)
For the apples –
- 2 eating apples, diced
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
- Flaked almonds, to decorate
Make it!
- Mix together the oats, sweetener, vanilla, flaxseed/chia seeds and milk in a bowl. Leave to chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frying pan and add the diced apples. After a few minutes of cooking on a medium-high heat (stirring frequently), add the cinnamon and sugar and cook for a further few minutes until softened, then set aside.
- When you’re ready to serve, divide the oats mixture between two glass dishes. Add a layer of custard (a few generous spoonfuls) then some of the apples. Repeat again with the oats to use them up, then bustard, then apples and finish with a sprinkling of flaked almonds. Enjoy! (Can be prepped and chilled in the fridge for up to 4 hours before eating.)
